Hey There
Welcome to Sempre Altrove - a space where we keep our stories. From late-night markets to mountain passes, scuba dives to side-street detours, this is our way of recording moments. A travel blog and journal of all our adventures, big and small, far from home or just around the corner. Always chasing the feeling of being elsewhere.
About Us
We’re Tom and Bambi, a couple currently somewhere else.
Sempre Altrove means “always elsewhere” in Italian. We chose this name trying to capture some of the essence of one of our biggest travel inspirations, Tom's Dad, Massimo. A sailor, motorcyclist and free spirit, he has always encouraged us to adventure and explore. In his thick Italian accent he always has a beautiful phrase to inspire and motivate, sometime in Italian, sometimes in English. The way he travels in a complete embrace of the chaos and experience of where he is, we call him the Italian Indiana Jones for good reason. This is the way we aspire to embrace our own adventures.
"Always elsewhere" also felt fitting in response to remarks we get from friends, colleagues and family. "Are you ever at work?", "You're always away", "Are you ever at home?". The answer until recently was yes, we work full time and love being at home, but as people who love to adventure and be out and about every chance we get - every weekend, every hour after a work day finishes is fair game. Because why not?
Tom is a digital marketer, and photographer who works in the motorcycle industry. He’s part Italian and fully obsessed with framing moments through a camera lens. When he’s not editing, he’s most likely scoping out mountain passes, coastal roads, or quiet corners with good light.
Bambi has Latvian and English roots and a deep desire to connect with her heritage. She’ll try any kind of corn, especially if it’s grilled, spiced, or being cooked on the side of the road. She’s also a skydiver, a snack enthusiast, and always the first to spot something worth turning around for.
Together, we’re both motorcycle riders, scuba divers, and lovers of the long way around. We try to take the road less travelled, even if that’s a cliché, because more often than not it leads to a story, a view, or a meal we weren’t expecting.
We are currently lucky enough to have been able to put our lives in Australia on pause. Whilst still working remotely part time, we are travelling Asia and Europe for 8 months together, our biggest adventure yet because, as Massimo reminds us, we don't need a golden wheelchair when we're old - it's better to enjoy life now.
Sempre Altrove is our way of documenting all of it, not just the places we pass through, but the food, people, textures, quiet moments, and discoveries along the way. We wanted to record this for us, to have a way to look back at everything that's more accessible than the optimistic hand-written travel journals we never complete. We wanted a way to share with our friends and family, and maybe someone new - maybe a way to meet new people and create new connections.
This is our record. A travel log. A notebook of roads, ridgelines, markets, missteps, and everything in between. Always elsewhere — but very much here.
